We, the BMW Group, offer you an exciting Master's thesis in the field of data analytics in the production of transmission components for electrified drives.

Research in the field of artificial intelligence is constantly opening up new fields of application in the way we live and work. However, there are still gaps between model-centered development and actual applicability in series production. One answer to this is the further development of the data-centric AI approach, which focuses on data quality and relevance.

As part of your Master's thesis, you will develop a generative machine learning model for condition monitoring of machine tools.

What can you expect?

• In your research topic, you will combine the current state of the art with industrial practice.
• You will develop concepts for the training process with generative models.
• You will develop a cloud-based architecture for data processing.
• You will be responsible for experiments to optimize model approaches and hyperparameters.
• You will become part of the scientific community in your subject area and present your results to an expert audience.

What do you bring to the table?

• Enthusiasm for digital solutions, data-based systems as well as production technology and mobility of the future.
• Degree in engineering, computer science or a comparable course of study.
• Knowledge of data science, machine & deep learning, with a focus on generative neural networks (e.g. GANs).
• Knowledge of processing complex data structures.
• Very good knowledge of programming with Python (Tensorflow, Pytorch):
• Fluency in German or English is an advantage.
