We, the BMW Group, offer you an exciting and varied internship in the field of Industry 4.0, as well as digitization of production and maintenance. The task of our team is the further development of the digital twin from the virtual commissioning (VIBN) for use in the series production of electrified drive systems. In concrete terms, the digital twin is used to apply predictive maintenance and to prepare other innovative approaches such as virtual or augmented reality.

What awaits you?

  • As part of your work as an intern (f/m/x), you will further develop the digital twin and use it fully with the ISG-Virtuos program.
  • In connection with this, you will be responsible for the data recording of real process data with an edge device and the TwinCAT control software from Beckhoff.
  • Furthermore, you will further develop an existing predictive maintenance system with us and thus accompany a targeted change management process.
  • In Python you will use machine learning algorithms to predict machine failures and create a dashboard with maintenance notifications.
  • You gain insights into the process flows of a state-of-the-art production of future technologies, as well as into technical content and entrepreneurial decision-making processes.
  • The opportunity to initiate and implement projects rounds off your exciting area of ​​responsibility.

what do you bring

  • Studies in electrical engineering, computer science, computer science, data analytics or a comparable course.
  • Knowledge of programming languages ​​(Python or C# and C++) is required. Python Packages: Pandas, Numpy, Scipy, Scikit Learn, Regression models and Forecasting algorithms etc.
  • Strong affinity for modeling related to digital twin simulations (SIL / HIL).
  • Practical experience in PLC programming (Beckhoff TwinCat or Siemens TIA Portal) and ISG Virtuos is an advantage.
  • Ability to work towards a goal independently, to process results and to present them in a team.
  • Quick perception.
