We, the BMW Group, offer you an exciting and varied doctoral thesis in the field of virtual factories.

The aim is to identify the relevant parameters influencing the success of planned production concepts as part of the doctorate and, based on this, to develop an approach to assisted production planning using machine learning.

What awaits you?

• Identification of the success factors of a production concept and analysis of the parameters that influence it.
• Development and training of a machine learning approach that assists with possible solutions in the planning of production concepts on the basis of given project premises and the success parameters.
• Validation of the model by means of concrete planning projects using the IT systems of the virtual factory.
• You get the opportunity to help shape the iFactory with a focus on DIGITAL with a future-oriented topic.
• You will work on your doctorate in an innovative and international working environment. You will be supported by an interdisciplinary team made up of specialist departments, IT and university partners.

what do you bring

• You have already completed your master's degree in digital engineering, IT, production, industrial engineering/informatics, mechanical engineering or similar or are about to graduate.
• You have a passion for innovation and digitization in the production environment.
• You have already gained initial experience in the field of machine learning and/or data mining or have a high affinity for this area.
• Initial programming experience and knowledge of agile working methods and tools are advantageous for the development of your doctorate.
• You want to advance your topics independently and bring team and communication skills with you.
• You speak German and English fluently and are good at using MS Office.
