Job Description

Job Scope: The Data Scientist is an exciting role within Thailand D&A team. This role will be involved in the development and deployment of state of art machine learning algorithms and world class data science capability to add business needs and opportunities.

The Data Scientist’s responsibilities include understanding the business problem, solutioning and experimenting with different modelling architectures to create the best possible setup from model performance as well as computational performance. To do this job successfully, you need exceptional skills in Machine Learning and Programming. Your goal will be to find the best data-based solution for the problem.

While there is a need for a strong technical background, the data scientist is also expected to engage with different types of stakeholders and participate in both technical sessions and business-oriented discussions. It is important for the data scientist to be able to explain data science concepts and solutions to non-technical stakeholders and present insights and results from the outcome of the analytics solution.

Key Accountabilities:

• Interact with relevant teams to identify business challenges where data science can help.
• Apply comprehensive data science knowledge to propose optimal techniques for key business challenges.
• Create detailed data science proposals and project plans, flagging any limitations of proposed solution.
• Design and prototype experimental solutions, particularly machine learning models
• Design scaled solutions and ensured high quality and timely delivery.
• Facilitate industrialization and ongoing operation of solutions through well-organized code, clear documentation and collaboration with relevant teams.
• Govern the work of 3rd party vendors where needed to support delivery, while maximizing creation of Unilever IP
• Represent Data Science in cross-functional governance of projects, engaging with stakeholders up to Director level.
• Highlight recent developments in data science capability which could solve additional challenges and recommend strategic areas of new capability to develop.
• Provide ad-hoc & immediate support to the business when needed.

• Fully Operational (tools/platform preferred in bracket)
• Data-Native platform for full ML cycle (Databricks)
• Spark/Scala
• ML lifecycle platform/tool (MLflow)
• Statistical modelling, machine learning

• Data Exploration
• Working Knowledge of the following:
• BI/visualization tool (PowerBI)
• Computer Vision 
• Cloud platforms, cloud services APIs

Relevant Experience:

• At least 7 years experiencesInvolved in the full cycle of data science product development + deployment, with strong presence in the project.
• Substantial tech experience in all tech aspects of data science work, EDA, modelling, testing, BAU monitoring.
• Experience with FMCG
• Experience working with/managing 3rd parties.
• Working with partners from tech product/platform (MS Azure, GCP etc.)
• Research for new methodology (from application point of view), writing white papers, product evaluation.
