We are looking to hire a Process Modelling Engineer based in Bangalore
Purpose: To drive & develop modelling & analytics(M&A) approaches in Digital R&D with a particular focus on building models that enable solutions across R&D and into the business.
The M&A Process and Pack team exploits leading edge modelling and simulation expertise to ensure that we produce superior & sustainable products for our consumers. The team comprises of both data modelling (e.g., AI/ML, optimization) and mechanistic modelling (e.g., computational fluid dynamics, finite element analysis). This opportunity is for a self-driven individual to build our capabilities in data analytics and modelling so that we can increase the speed with which new innovations reach the market. We support products and brands across all Unilever’s divisions in Foods & Refreshment, Home Care and Beauty & Personal Care.
The ideal candidate will bring their core skills and engage as an equal with practicing engineers and scientists. Therefore, the role is best suited to someone
from an engineering, physics or materials related discipline who has trained in data modelling OR an individual with an applied mathematics/data modelling background with suitable experience.
This particular role focusses more on process activities and to support the M&A Director to build and nurture the part of the team based in Bangalore. The team work naturally across process and pack and partner strongly with the packaging community and supply chain.
In process, the challenge is the design of sustainable and scalable manufacturing processes. In pack, Unilever have committed to halve its use of virgin plastic packaging by 2025. For both the opportunities arising from e-commerce, ever more rapid response to consumer demands and decarbonizing our products and supply chain can only be met by application of robust and reliable modeling approaches. A characteristic of the product (both formulation and pack) is that the properties, aesthetics and functionality is in part a consequence of the chemical composition of the (recycled) plastics, formulation ingredients and impurities. However, it is also very dependent of the process used to form and manufacture them, producing a complex interaction.
We undertake the most challenging problems so you must be comfortable with adapting your approach and with embracing new modelling approaches. We are looking for modelers with a passion to learn, a creative mindset and an entrepreneurial outlook to deliver on our immediate and long-term ambitions. Ideal candidates will enjoy engaging with R&D and supply chain partners to search out the best new techniques. You will have a passion to learn about our technologies and in seeing your models contributing to our business.
