Job Description
PayPal’s Global Decision Strategy Team identifies fraudulent transaction real time by leveraging state-of-the-art technology to detect and mitigate fraud without impacting the customer experience. As a manager, you will be leading this effort through building a data science team to develop and implement strategies which drive impactful business results across the global organization.

PayPal’s Data Science team combines AI, machine learning, with customer data and behavior to innovate fraud solutions. Through close collaboration with business partners, scientists, and engineering teams, we translate insights into solutions that protect our customers, partners, and PayPal business around the globe.

PayPal’s Decision Scientists deeply understand our business objectives and the potential for financial impact through Fraud Risk Management. As a manager, you will lead a team that owns the strategy for fraud prevention, collaborates to deliver solutions, and provides analytics and governance over financial and operational metrics.
Additional Job Description:
In your day-to-day role you will:
People Management: Build a team of enthusiastic, collaborative, and impactful data scientists.
Planning: Develop long-term strategy and manage roadmap for data science activities.
Collaboration: Build collaborative partnerships between Data Science and the core teams and business partners to enable solution delivery and meet business objectives.
Governance: Define and manage key metrics showcasing the impact or highlighting opportunities for fraud solutions.
What do you need to bring
Leadership- Experience leading decision science teams, strategy, and governance in financial tech or other financial domains. Global leadership is advantageous.
Technical: SQL, Python and data visualization proficiency with strong analytical skills. Understanding of ML and statistical concepts
Culture: Communication, trust, and patience to lead data-driven solutions addressing complex business problems across cross-functional teams.
Communication: Ability to translate data-driven insights into relevant stories for executive-level audiences which articulate business cases and proposed solutions.
Education: BS/BA degree in related field with 10+ years related professional experience; Masters degree and 8+ years related professional work experience; or Doctorate degree and 6+ years related professional experience.
