GDS Horizon team is looking for a Data Strategist to manage, lead and take full ownership of our external data sources portfolio strategy, including vendor relations, data governance and monitoring, ROI evaluation, lead generation and facilitation of data integrations.
PayPal’s Global Data Sciences team is responsible for developing and enhancing machine learning and data mining capabilities, which are key in PayPal’s top-of-the-line data-driven decisions, especially in the risk and counter-fraud domains. Our researchers overcome challenges presented by big data, evolving fraud techniques and new payment technologies by leveraging domain expertise and creating sophisticated data-driven products which enable us to make the best possible decisions to protect PayPal’s customers.
As a Data Strategist you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of external data sources, ensuring the data is relevant, valuable and ready to use. The position includes leading the multiple fronts in this domain, including vendor relations, data governance and monitoring, ROI evaluation, lead generation and facilitation of data integrations. This unique position requires working in close collaboration with various partners - Software Engineers, Data Scientists, business leaders and external data vendors.
We are looking for a highly motivated team player with solid understanding of data, great analytical skills, strong interpersonal skills and passion to drive forward and coordinate the analytical and technical execution of new and existing data solutions. The successful candidate will have a proven experience in both project management and partnership/interface management, and will demonstrate an ability to take full ownership from initiation to execution while working closely with leaders across the company.

- Bachelor’s Degree or above in one of the following: engineering, economics, finance, exact sciences, etc. (MBA ? an advantage)
- 2+ years of work experience in relevant positions (e.g. technical product/project manager, data analyst, decision scientist, data scientist)
- Technical orientation; Experience in SQL / Python ? a must
- Proven analytical skills and data orientation
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in working with external vendors and partners ? an advantage
- Experience in working with APIs & data integrations ? an advantage
- General knowledge of Machine Learning methods ? an advantage
- Experience in the Payments domain ? an advantage
