We are currently seeking highly qualified, self-motivated interns to accelerate research towards new applications, core methodologies and technologies in Artificial Intelligence at Hewlett Packard Labs.

We expect the successful candidate to collaborate with Hewlett Packard Labs research teams as well as with external partners, and to work in alignment with HPE's broader innovation community. Excellent software systems building skills are a significant plus.

Role and Responsibilities

The Emerging Accelerators Lab/AI Research Lab at Hewlett Packard Laboratories has an opening for an intern position (Research Engineer) with a background in material science engineering, electrical engineering, applied physics, computer engineering or related fields. The researcher will aid in the CMOS/memristor BEOL integration and process development, combining CMOS and emerging ReRAM device technologies on prototype silicon chips for in-memory computing applications including network security, machine learning, neuromorphic computing, finite automata, tree-based models and other computational models.

The candidate will work in a team environment to develop the CMOS memristor BEOL and packaging process steps for hybrid CMOS/ReRAM systems. The work can span a range of activities including: ReRAM process development for hybrid CMOS integration, packaging process development and integration, ReRAM device testing and materials tuning, operation of existing hardware platforms, and operation and testing of hybrid CMOS/ReRAM chip.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

PhD candidate in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Computer Engineering, or related areas.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with materials processing
  • Cleanroom tools such as photolithography.
  • Also of interest would be experience with e-beam lithography, reactive sputtering.
