YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Data Scientist – Breeding Customer Insights, are to:

  • Partners with domain experts (teams) in the organization to understand key challenges and business questions to build feasible solutions that are impactful, accurate, and validated;
  • Uses advanced statistical and mathematical models, machine learning algorithms, operations research techniques, and strong business acumen to deliver insight, recommendations, and innovative solutions for current and future pipelines;
  • Executes data preparation, cleansing and QA/QC of Bayer or third-party raw data;
  • Develops practical, interpretable, and automated solutions for business problems through expertise in statistical analysis, predictive modeling, simulation, and optimization methodology by working in a highly interactive, team-oriented environment;
  • Be accountable for the conception, architecture, engineering, and delivery of cutting-edge data science and analytical solutions to business partners working in local and global team;
  • Designs and executes optimal metrics visualization solutions;
  • Analyzes and interprets data to Bayer management and provides guidance for key strategic changes based on learnings;
  • Be creative, resourceful, detail-oriented, and able to take initiative and exercise critical thinking when it comes to problem-solving;
  • Being active member of the Breeding Customer Insights Team;
  • Partners across peer groups as a catalyst for product and pipeline insight;
  • Be responsible for mentoring junior data scientists, sets strategy, identifies technical gaps, applies data science acumen to unsolved business goals, and helps prioritize and allocate resources.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. OR Master’s degree OR Bachelor’s degree;
  • Experience and passion for solving analytical problems involving big data sets using quantitative approaches to generate insights from data;
  • Proficient in building data models using R, Python, or other statistical and mathematical programming languages;
  • Educational preparation or applied knowledge in at least one of the following areas: Statistical Genetics, Statistics, Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, Machine Learning, Operation Research, Genomics, Computational Biology, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science or other related quantitative disciplines;
  • Creative, proactive, bold and out-of-box thinking;
  • Proficiency with data query, data QC, analysis, summary, and visualization;
  • Proficiency in Machine learning algorithms and concepts;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-based, cross-functional, multi-cultural environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior related experience including industrial or educational experience;
  • Prior experience with customer insights data and metrics.

Domestic relocation may be available for this role.

Visa Sponsorship may be available for this role.

Position will be based in Chesterfield, MO (St. Louis area) or other approved US Crop Science site.

Position may include opportunity to work up to 40% remote.
