YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Data Specialist, are to:

  • Participate in and occasionally lead design sessions with Enterprise Data Stewards, Data Engineering teams, Data Scientists, Product Managers, business and IT stakeholders, to drive data strategy and acquisition for data and governance, and own functional ownership of data as an asset process;
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, other engineers, and data stewards within the team and across data, technical platforms, and product teams on executing and aligning roadmaps, delivery dates and integration efforts;
  • Provide of ontologies and terminologies for Pharma core areas, assisting with data integration and curation issues;
  • Hold third party data providers like IQVIA, Veeva Open Data, DRG, IRA, ProMetics, Lash etc., and be accountable for their data deliverable before consumption into Bayer systems and processes;
  • Review the data contract language that includes penalty clauses for incomplete and inaccurate data;
  • Guide and orient small teams of external/internal stewards to shepherd the day-to-day tasks of pre-mastering;
  • Review candidate records, business critical data identification, Key Performance Indicator (KPIs) the measure quality and sharpen the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for stewardship that manage data change request, while building alignment on the data strategy vision;
  • Design, implement and maintain of guidelines to ensure FAIR data principles of data jointly with business functions;
  • Create innovative solutions to deliver lineage that cuts through multiple data processes (Call Plan, Segmentation, Data Change Requests, Incentive Compensation, Sun-Shine Act reporting, General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Business Insights, Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Statistical Analysis Plans (SAP) etc.);
  • Provide timely, accurate and reliable data to analytics, reporting and downstream system consumptions for the accountable assets.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least six years of applicable business experience;
  • Experience in participating in the build and support of Master Data Management (MDM), Data Platforms and design principles;
  • Demonstrated experience leading data modeling and architecture design efforts, including designing both logical and physical models for datasets;
  • Proficiency in working with relational databases such as Postgres, MySQL, Oracle, etc.;
  • Proven experience modeling large datasets in distributed databases such as Snowflake;
  • At least two years of experience with at Veeva Network;
  • Proven experience providing reliable estimates for large scale projects;
  • Experience contributing to open source projects;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and desire to work in a highly collaborative environment;
  • Familiarity with the relevant industry trends.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Pharmaceuticals, life sciences, bioinformatics or related disciplines;
  • Experience with Cloud-native solutions, Veeva Network and MDM technologies, such as Reltio;
  • Knowledge of machine learning or other data science practices.
