  • Lead collaborations with both internal and external teams, including scientists with specialties in Computation, Optics, Data Science, and Machine Learning, to identify and develop solutions following best practices.
  • Work closely with a wide range of internal user groups, such as optics and photonics researchers and engineers, to identify both gaps and opportunities for innovative modeling and optimization methodologies and tools.
  • Play an integral role in the strategic planning of new algorithms and advancing simulation and optimization capabilities for prospective products and technologies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • PhD degree or equivalent experience in Photonics, Optics, Physics or similar fields
  • Experience with geometric, physical optics, diffractive or micro-optics, and with an emphasis on modeling and simulations.
  • 3+ years experience with electromagnetic modeling and analysis of light propagation in nanoscale structures, anisotropic materials, films, or holographic elements.
  • 3+ years experience with algorithm development for electromagnetic light propagation and implementation of code with C++.
  • Experience with methods of light propagation both in wave and ray domains as well as in mixed models.
  • Experience with local and global optimization algorithm development.
  • Experience with Python programming languages.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with electromagnetic theory, modeling optical structures, running simulations, and building software tools for simulation work.
  • Experience with machine learning and deep neural networks.
  • Experience with developing code for distributed systems and parallel computing.
  • Experience with cross-group, interpersonal, and cross-culture collaboration.
