We are seeking individuals passionate in areas such as deep learning, computer vision, audio and speech processing, natural language processing, machine learning, reinforcement learning, and computational statistics.

The Modern Recommendation Systems (MRS) team is a pivotal organization within Meta, spearheading state-of-the-art technologies in recommendation systems. We collaborate with major recommendation products within the Meta ecosystem, including Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, the “Family of Apps” (FoA). Our developed technologies encompass core disciplines such as Retrieval, Ranking, Search, NLP, Multi-modal content understanding, model scaling/efficiency and user understanding.

This position is short-term employment for PhD students during the academic school year who will work in collaboration with Meta and University of Washington, New York University, or University of California, Berkeley and requires the student to work onsite in the Meta office. The position will be full time during students' summer break in 2025.

Visiting Researcher, AI Mentorship Program, Modern Recommendation Systems Responsibilities

• Perform research to advance the science and technology of intelligent systems.
• Perform research that improves computational understanding and representation of data.
• Devise data-driven models of human behavior.
• Influence progress of relevant research communities by producing publications.
• Collaborate and increase productivity on existing research projects.

Minimum Qualifications

• Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a PhD degree in a technical field such as Computer Science from the University of Washington, New York University, or University of California, Berkeley.
• Knowledge in Machine Learning.
• Knowledge in a programming language.
• Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
• Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building systems based on machine learning and/or deep learning methods.
• Research and software engineer experience demonstrated via an internship, work experience, coding competitions, or open-source contributions.
• Knowledge in Python, Lua, C++, C, C# and/or Java.

$117,000/year to $137,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

 Individual pay is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
