Job Description

The Chief Architect, Data Science is responsible for driving the data vision, strategy, and execution, so as to feed the company’s strategy with relevant insight and to enable sustainable business growth and profitability, internal efficiencies through improved data structures and cleanliness, constant insight, and efficient data governance and process.

Responsibilities:

  • Guide the Data Center of Excellence on which data to structure, store, analyze, and exploit for the business’s benefit. Be the adviser on data solutions across consumer journey for various business functions including Sales, Revenue Management & Analytics, Consumer Insight, CRM, Operations, Food & Beverages, Merchandise and so on.
  • Report to CTO, work closely with CIO and CDO to provide recommendation on data analytics solutions and infrastructure that supports and achieves business goals and targets across consumer journey, and ensures consistency throughout the company in terms of data and KPIs.
  • Value data in the company, drive consistent achievement of measurable business outcomes, including revenue growth, cost savings, risk mitigation, improved operational efficiency and increased customer value.
  • Organize and create an environment that makes data and information widely accessible with appropriate channels of access controls.
  • Work with key internal and external stakeholders as well as leaders and executives fostering a relationship of trust and playing an advisory role in the use of data to improve performance and business-wide strategy formulation (data-driven decisions and culture).
  • Lead innovation and promote the use of industry leading trends and new big data management technologies and BI tools.
  • Develop cast engagement and strong analytical competencies.
  • Work with Disney Decision Science Integration counterparts in US so as to leverage synergy and global insight.
  • Enforce radical transparency for our consumers about what sort of data is collected and for what it is used and stored.

Basic Qualifications

  • 20 years of experience in hospitality, retail, technology or data industry with exposure on data touch points across consumer journey.
  • Strong business sense to comprehend business issues and needs, interpret analysis result from business perspective and make actionable recommendations.
  • Exposure in major digital ecosystems (Search Engine, Social Media, Instant Messaging Tool, CRM) in China and Asia.
  • Experience in data lake / customer database solutions, understanding of tourism or hospitality industry or relevant management experience will be an added advantage.
  • Excellent understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms, and their real-world advantages and drawbacks.
  • Experience solving complex problems by process re-engineering, automation, data science or machine learning.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams.
  • Good inter-personal skills, proactive working attitude with analytical mindset, team spirit and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent communications skills in English; Cantonese / Mandarin an advantage.
  • A university degree in Computer Science or Business, preferably in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics or related disciplines.
