Business Operations is the glue of DE&E Technology, with a persistent focus on connecting all the pieces of the business. This team synthesizes information from across the business to ensure leaders are armed with all the necessary data before making strategic and financial decisions. From forecasting, funding, tracking, and reporting on projects, to ways of working, and resource management, Business Operations has transparency and input into all aspects of the team.

The Technology Analytics team is looking for a Senior Data Analyst who will help to measure, understand, and take action to mitigate identity and content security fraud across a growing ecosystem of Disney’s streaming services (Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+). Our team preforms exploratory data analysis, advanced analytics, data visualization and storytelling to provide recommendations to drive product and business decision-making. This team collaborates cross-functionally with the Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology organization and across the Direct-to-Consumer organization to generate insightful, compelling, and strategic analyses. This role will build positive relationships and partner closely with Product, Engineering, Business Strategy, and other Analytics teams to ensure the optimal development of our content security practices and products.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate complex analyses and results to a wide array of business stakeholders with varying technical expertise, both in oral presentations and via written reports
  • Partner closely with stakeholders (Product, Engineering, Business Strategy, Marketing etc.) to identify and unlock opportunities for improved content and identity security
  • Create and maintain operational dashboards in Tableau and Looker to understand performance over time, enable efficient exploratory analysis, and equip partners with self-serve tools
  • Translate complex business questions into SQL including proper cohorting, calculations, filtering criteria and/or aggregations
  • Partner with Data Science teams to on analyses using clustering/segmentation, regression modeling, and/or predictive modeling

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of strategic analysis to inform product or business decision making
  • 3+ years of hands-on analytical work experience with SQL (ETL ownership, complex transformations, development of “analytical” datasets)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to apply business strategy to data analysis and recommendations
  • Ability to think strategically, analyze and interpret first and third party information
  • Experience manipulating large data sets and interpreting data trends using a multitude of disparate data sources and tools
  • Expertise with data exploration and data visualization tools like Tableau or Looker
  • Strong analytical and technical skills to troubleshoot issues, analyze the cause, quickly come-up with possible solutions, document the changes, and communicate organizational impact
  • Strong experience in documenting the data requirements, data strategy, data rules (standardization, cleansing, and validation)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the streaming media industry and/or supporting a direct-to-consumer or subscription-based product
  • Experience in product analytics for an application based product
  • Experience in the technology industry
  • Experience in A/B testing or other experimentation
  • Experience operating in an SDLC environment and deploying code

The hiring range for this position in New York, NY is $118,000 to $158,200 per year and in Santa Monica, CA is $112,600 to $151,000 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
