What you'll do

Position Title: SAP iXp Intern – Data Scientist, Technology Legal Compliance

Location: Vancouver, BC

Expected Start Date: September 2023

Contract Duration: 8 months

Work Hours: 40 hours per week

As an iXp intern for Data Scientist for the Global Technology Legal Compliance team, you will play a key role in ensuring SAP products and solutions comply with technical legal requirements such as software licensing laws and trade regulations. You will have access to support from world-class data scientists, domain experts, software development, and user experience teams. Lastly, you will be exploring opportunities for technology transfer and publish in leading conferences while working in an environment that is productive and fun.

In your day-to-day, you will be:

  • Developing and extending tools used in Technology Legal Compliance
  • Following up on the latest trends and share the knowledge among the team 
  • Drawing on research in machine learning, natural language processing, data mining, information visualization, and other related areas to push state-of-the-art technology legal compliance tools, pattern detection, as well as classification and data analytics.
  • Applying your research to real-world technical problems

What you bring

Education and Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate, Master’s or PhD student in Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Machine Learning, Data Science, or Mathematics/Statistics
  • Strong research, analytical, and software prototyping skills
  • Self-motivated, with interest in Natural Language Processing and its application to real world problems
     

Work Experience/Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with using programming languages such as Python, Java and C++
  • Experience with technologies such as Angular, Python Flask, React, HTML5, CSS and noSQL
  • Familiarity with deep learning and neural network frameworks (e.g., Pytorch, TensorFlow)
  • Familiarity with using data analysis tools (e.g., Matlab, R), ML technologies (e.g., Python-scikit) and latest developments in the NLP space (e.g., generative AI)

The Technology Legal Compliance team in Canada is a tight-knit team of professionals who provides technical assessments needed to approve and assert ongoing complaint usage of commercial 3rd party software, 3rd party web services, and use of other 3rd party assets such as data, content, and technical specifications.
