SUMMARY:

As a Data Science Expert (m/f/d) and project lead / project coordinator you are responsible for driving high-value AI initiatives within the SAP S/4HANA development organization. You own the relationship with one or multiple product units, you drive the ideation of new AI application areas, and you lead agile technical teams bringing these ideas to life. While you are a strong coordinator, you’re equally skilled when it comes to hands-on implementing enterprise machine learning models. Due to your extensive experience working as a data scientist, you can guide teams in all aspects of ideation, model building, validation, and productization/operation.
In addition to your data scientist role, you represent the team manager as the local lead for the Munich location and actively engage in fostering the local team culture.

YOUR TASKS INCLUDE:

• Working hands-on as a data scientist and machine learning engineer
• Leveraging your strong expertise in the field to guide fellow data scientists, software engineers and product managers on the topic of machine learning 
• Initiating and driving AI projects jointly with S/4HANA product units
• Building and owning strong relationships with S/4HANA product units across all levels of hierarchy
• Acting as a thought leader and evangelist, driving the “AI mindset” of the organization
• Leading technical project teams to success and ensuring stakeholder satisfaction across product management, application engineering and (senior) line management
• Representing the Munich team as the local spokesperson towards external stakeholders

YOUR PROFILE:

• Master-level degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, or another quantitative discipline; PhD degree in a quantitative field is a plus
• Proven thought leadership in data science, machine learning or artificial intelligence; very good overview of state-of-the-art machine learning / artificial intelligence concepts
• Solid Python programming skills, proficient use of state-of-the-art ML libraries
• Track record of leading high-value enterprise data science projects to tangible outcomes, also in challenging environments
• Experienced in initiating and leading projects to success in matrix environments without formal authority; strong in building and maintaining relationships in such environments
• Can-do attitude: you always find a solution, even under the most difficult circumstances
• Knowledge of SAP S/4HANA business processes and data models is a plus
• Very strong communication skills in English (written, verbal & presentation); fluency in German is a preferred

WORK EXPERIENCE:

• 8+ years of experience as an enterprise data scientist
• 4+ years of experience in leading technical teams

The SAP S/4HANA AI Incubation unit spearheads a broad adoption of AI/ML technologies within SAP’s flagship product, SAP S/4HANA, by realizing lighthouse scenarios that pave the way for the organization in conjunction with product managers, engineering teams, co-innovation customers and technology providers.
