PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

The development team for SAP HANA &Database in China is part of the global HANA product organization with 1000+highly motivated employees who design and produce SAP’s cutting edge database products, specifically SAP HANA. The global SAP HANA & Database development team is responsible for architecture, design, development and delivery of industry leading, in-memory database technology.

SAP HANA Predictive Analysis Library (PAL), the in-memory machine learning library with 100+ scalable &high-performance algorithms, is developed in SAP Labs, China. Within the team, we have PhD researchers, algorithm developers, data scientists, and system engineers to build the next generation of data platform and help enterprise customers to utilize machine learning & data science algorithms on enterprise data.

The HANA text analysis team at SAP focuses on the development of natural-language processing (NLP) information extraction technologies. The team combines the talents of computational linguists and skilled software engineers to deliver best-of-breed text analysis functionality in all major languages. This groundbreaking technology includes a comprehensive set of advanced text analysis tools such as search, categorization, and entity extraction that is being used in SAP applications ranging from business intelligence to semantic search.

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

As Developer, you are expected to do the following for the following tasks

• Primary development responsibility for all software development life cycle phases including design, documentation, implementation, and testing.
• Good understanding of sound software engineering principles
• Good habits for writing technical specifications and commenting code

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent and 5+ years of experience in the software industry, or M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent
• Excellent communication skill in both Chinese and English;

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Key requirements

• Excellent C++ design and programming skills on large-scale projects
• Formal training and on-the job application of objected-oriented design and programming
• Cross-platform, multithreaded, distributed design and development
• Solid experience in Database and SQL
• Solid understanding and application of algorithms and design patterns
• Proficiency in debugging and refactoring techniques, optimization strategies, unit test framework design/construction/usage, and profiling tools
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Nice to have

• Experience in algorithm implementation and research is a big plus
• Knowledge in machine learning, statistics and NLP area is a big plus
• ARM infrastructure experience is a plus

WORK EXPERIENCE

5+ years of professional experience in software development.
