Primary Job Responsibilities

Play a key role in leading state-of-the art research activity of ebay’s SEO organization. Research and develop complex algorithmic solutions involving advanced algorithms and technologies in the field of Machine (Deep) Learning, NLP, and IR. You will be expected to stay up to date with the most recent developments and publications through attending conferences and conceiving ways for harnessing these towards our cause. Most importantly, you will play a key role in bringing the abstract ideas from the whiteboard to the physical world, working with a world-class team of scientists and engineers.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Take ownership and help drive the team and group’s scientific efforts.
  • Work as part of a team, exploring novel solutions for data-based problems, investigating a range of algorithmic approaches, and prototyping the best fitted solutions.
  • Stay up-to-date with the field advances, read papers, attend conferences and conceive new ways for harnessing these towards our cause.
  • Communicate your ideas clearly and concisely with scientists, engineers, management, and product.

Required Skills

  • MSc/PhD in computer science/software engineering or other relevant education.
  • Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Significant Industry experience with AI/ML techniques and deployment to production (Advantage: work in Information Retrieval or Natural Language Processing).
  • Proven ability of leading and delivering complex research projects.
  • High proficiency in Python (sklearn, tensorflow, pytorch, MLlib) and/or Scala.
  • Significant advantage: experience with Big Data environments - Hadoop, Spark, DWH, Analytical databases etc.
  • Advantage:
    • Java, R, Docker, Kubernetes., Airflow/Azkaban, Kafka.
    • Experience in design and development of Internet-scale systems with massive amounts of data.
    • micro-services architecture.
