You will play an important role in the Paid search product (Admarkt) product which is part of the portfolio making Small and Medium sized businesses successful on our platforms. You will enable the team to better understand user behaviour and help to optimise the experience (buyside and sellside). We invite you to join us!

About the role:

Analysing rich datasets to deeply understand commercial sellers and buyers on our platform. Using machine learning to optimise what commercial content we show to which buyers. Being a key link between the commercial and data science teams to build a great product for our users.

As a Data Scientist for the Commercial team you will be involved in integrating our paid search product (Admarkt) in a relevant way on Marktplaats, 2dehands.be and 2ememain.be. Next to this you support the business teams and product teams in experimentation and product development. You are an important link between the data product team, the business team, and the development teams.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Find opportunities to improve our paid search product (Admarkt) product by analyzing user (both seller and buyer) behavior

  • Find opportunities to improve our platform with data products

  • Build data products that impact our users, from data exploration through model selection and evaluation to implementation

  • Collaborate with data teams to use existing data products to improve relevance for our customers

  • Design and set up experiments that enable us to understand where to focus our efforts

  • Validate the impact we make with new initiatives

  • Visualize and communicate your findings to product teams and other partners

  • Support the Marketing and Sales departments in their Customer Lifecycle Management by providing the right triggers to other systems (Salesforce, Adobe, Customer contact Centers)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in an analytics or data science environment.

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in statistics, computer science, econometrics, mathematics, or other quantitative field

  • Experience with big data technologies, tools and languages, e.g. Hadoop, Hive, Spark and MLFlow

  • Knowledge of R and/or Python

  • Familiarity with experimentation (A/B testing) and related statistical methods

  • Creativity, initiative and drive

  • Superb communication (written/verbal) and presentation abilities in English

  • Knowledge of Machine Learning techniques, e.g. NLP, clustering and recommender systems

  • Strong drive to understand our data and users and build impactful data products

  • Understanding of Elastic search or similar solutions is preferred.
