About the team:

We are the AI Engineering Team! We are looking for a highly motivated staff software engineer to help us build a next generation system using state of the art ANN frameworks like hnswlib, Faiss and ScaNN at scale, build product inventory graph and knowledge graph for collaborative filtering for personalized recommendations. We write modern, high-performance C++ distributed systems code deployed under Linux. We use sophisticated lock-free programming techniques and custom allocators to squeeze every last drop of performance out of our servers.

Job Functions:

You will be a member of our Core AI infrastructure team, building the next generation scalable and real time AI architecture.

• Understand, estimate, design and implement complex software applications in C++
• Deliver highly performing, low latency, robust code with high test case coverage, continuous integration and production monitoring
• Participate in engineering design and code reviews
• Triage and debug production issues
• Mentor junior team members
• Work closely with every Core Product domain on feature and architecture implementation
• We follow agile practices and focus on continual improvement in our practices, driven from the ground up. We expect you to advocate for improvements in code and culture, and to support your colleagues in the same.
• Work well with team members and other teams, dividing up workload appropriately.
• Partner and collaborate with other organizations throughout eBay.
• As part of the team, you'll also share your knowledge with the wider team as well as learning about and chipping in to our core app experience.

Job Requirements:

• Preferred 5+ years of experience in designing, building, refactoring and releasing software written in Modern C++.
• Distributed computing concepts, including high availability, horizontal scalability, sharding, replication, and resiliency
• Optimize Open source ANN libraries and frameworks for ecommerce use cases
• Excellent debugging and triaging skills is a must
• Experience in ANN, personalized recommendations and knowledge graph is a plus.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum methodologies and working in Agile teams is desirable
• Excellent communication and lead skills to be able work and collaborate with other teams involved in our projects such as Computer Vision and NLP Teams.
