eBay’s Core Artificial Intelligence (AI) organization is seeking a Lead Manager, Responsible AI with experience in safety, ethics, and sociotechnical aspects of data and machine learning systems. You will lead close partnerships with cross-functional teams, product, research and engineering, to define problem statements, design roadmaps, and scope programs with reference to business priorities, identify turning points and define and track progress toward success metrics, ensuring that large cross-functional teams are aligned and led to completion.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate product AI use cases to assess risks, define requirements, and develop strategic initiatives that will be rolled out company-wide.
  • Build a strong and aligned program to efficiently deliver on responsible AI priorities
  • Collaborate with AI, UX, Privacy, Data Governance, Engineering, policy leads, and business owners to define program requirements, set priorities, and establish scope, which includes defining Responsible AI requirements and long-term strategy.
  • Manage cross-functional dependencies, risks, and changes effectively by optimizing scope, schedule, and resources accordingly.
  • Develop and own communication plans to effectively and proactively communicate program status, issues, and risks to team members.
  • Define and track key metrics and key quality and performance indicators and drive cross-functional execution of program deliverables.

Requirements:

  • A. or B.S. in a relevant discipline such as Communications, Organizational Ethics, Organizational Psychology, the social sciences, information sciences, or a related technical field, or significant experience working for organizations that build/manage technology.
  • 6+ years of systems engineering or technical product/program management experience.
  • Experience delivering tech programs or products from inception to delivery.
  • Experience establishing work relationships across multi-disciplinary teams and multiple partners in different time zones.
  • Knowledge of user needs, gathering cross-functional requirements, and defining project scope.
  • Experience operating autonomously across multiple teams, demonstrated critical thinking and thought leadership.
  • Analytical and problem-solving experience with large-scale systems.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment in California, Washington, or New York is expected in the range below.

$144,000 - $216,150

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
