You will grow and lead a team of applied researchers in the creation of new capabilities and product experiences powered by NLP. This will involve highly cross-functional work partnering closely with Product, Design, Engineering and others across eBay to both help and delight our customers. A successful candidate will have experience defining measures of success for cutting-edge research and innovation to be brought to products in a continuous manner while growing the team. This will also require fundamentally strong technical ability and being hands-on, experience in people management, deep collaboration and communication skills and the drive to bring these experiences to our customers in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
About the Team:
The NLP team at eBay Core AI is looking for highly qualified candidates for the full-time Senior Tech Lead NLP Manager position in our Aachen office. The NLP team works on capabilities at the heart of new product experiences. eBay’s strategic vision is to become the best global marketplace for buyers and sellers through a tech-led reimagination of the company.
With hundreds of millions of buyers and sellers, 1.3B+ of live listings at any point of time, eBay provides an outstanding environment to make broad business impact with product experiences that delight our customers.
Basic Qualifications:
- PhD in computer science, natural language processing, machine learning or related areas
- Strong technical ability in Large Language Models, NLP and ML
- 4+ years of experience mentoring and managing applied researchers in teams delivering product capabilities utilizing Natural Language Processing (NLP)
- 7+ years of relevant proven experience
- Track record shipping NLP products
- Experience hiring, coaching and developing world-class NLP applied researchers
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Experience in ecommerce a strong plus
- Highly-motivated, life-time learner
