Position Summary

Analytics Engineer and Support role will work with a team of Bristol Myers Squibb resources and Service Providers responsible for the delivery (BUILD) and ongoing support (RUN) of Enterprise Analytics and Machine Learning platforms across Bristol Myers Squibb. This Role will be responsible for working with the vendors and internal IT teams to ensure that the platforms are properly supported and configured to support cross functional teams. This role will deliver business performance by providing rock solid robust platform services and deliver expected business outcomes on time and on budget.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Analytics Engineer and Support lead will engineer and enhance the platforms services to scale and adapt to support variety of business Intelligence, analytics and data science needs while balancing TCO. He/She will be responsible for operations and full lifecycle management of an existing analytics services and monitor successful execution. This role is part of Data Platform team, the team responsible for providing platform engineering and operations services to BMS.

This role offers the selected candidate the opportunity to interact with Bristol Myers Squibb professionals globally, partnering with other IT organizations and business organizations across the company. You will work with passionate and motivated individuals, gain insight into all faucets of Bristol Myers Squibb businesses from early discovery, to manufacturing & logistics to commercial and financial operations. You will be a valued member of the Enterprise Integration team focused on fulfilling the Bristol Myers Squibb mission to discover, develop and deliver innovative medicines that help patients prevail over serious diseases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing platforms with significantly complex integration points
  • Responsible for Platform Engineering, support and operations which includes Incident and problem management, minor enhancements and break fixes.
  • Create and foster a vibrant, inclusive, and innovation-oriented culture consistent with BMS values and ingrained in BMS mission to serve patients.
  • Ensures RUN operations are reliable, accessible, compliant, and secure
  • Ensures RUN operations deliver as per SLA’s
  • Actively monitor and mitigate any performance, scalability or sustainability issues with platform or application components.
  • Provides proactive and appropriate communication (written and verbally) to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Establish robust self-service models that are tailored to the varying needs of business users
  • Participate in Mission/Business critical Incident resolution activities
  • Ensures compliance with required policies and governances

Qualifications & Experience

  • 10+ years of Information technology experience in implementation and support of enterprise systems
  • 3-5 years of experience leading a cross-functional data organization with accountability to deliver tangible business value through data and analytical solutions
  • Ability to quickly immerse and understand the core values and culture of a large organization like BMS and create an environment to extend and build that culture at new sites
  • Ability to clearly articulate the BMS mission, vision and values and demonstrate a clear line of sight to how the organization's work directly enables that vision.
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced and matrixed environment
  • Responsible for the direct management of one or multiple teams including results/outcomes, goal setting, performance management, coaching

Technical Skills:

  • Architect, Configure and maintain Tableau Server
  • Monitor, maintain, and scale server deployments to satisfy business requirements.
  • Configure Authentication options including Experience with alternative authentication providers.
  • Perform server maintenance (backups, updates, restores, etc.).
  • Monitor server performance and usage.
  • Automate server monitoring and maintenance tasks (TABCMD and TABADMIN), and using Python
  • Investigate and resolve complex server issues.
  • Monitor and maintain site metrics such as content usage, user activity, and scheduled tasks.
  • Experience with reading through Tableau logs to work through problems finding root causes and rectifying.

Required Skills:

  • Proven advanced skill and experience with Tableau development and administration with version 2020+
  • Proficient with querying languages, such as ANSI-SQL, T-SQL
  • Candidates must have 5+ years of Business Intelligence experience.
  • Tableau Cloud migration experience
  • Ability to provide data visualization solutions

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with industry BI/Reporting toolsets including Spotfire, MicroStrategy, Power BI
  • Experience with utilizing scripting languages to leverage Tableau's APIs (Javascript API, Data Extract API, REST API)
  • Experience with connecting to Hadoop, Oracle, AWS Data Lake and SQL databases.
