Job Description

Enterprise Data Strategy team is a significant part of Digital Risk Product and Data strategy team and is responsible for strategizing across prospecting, acquisition, underwriting and customer management to drive innovation in credit and fraud risk strategies & decisioning models. Identifying data use cases and incremental attributes for improving risk strategies and contribute to increased acquisition & customer engagement which in turn results in growth of billings.

The incumbent will have the exciting opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across the enterprise to bring innovation into CFR and bring American Express to the forefront of the data economy.

What type of work can you expect to do as part of the Enterprise Data Strategy Organization at American Express?

  • Support the development of innovative and impactful strategies through our strategic partnerships to drive business growth and credit & fraud risk management excellence
  • Support the Enterprise Data Strategy across the customer lifecycle through structured and risk-based principles
  • Analyze existing and new data sources to uncover opportunities that will optimize our data solutions & purchases and address business needs
  • Review and monitor data quality, coverage and freshness
  • Analyze existing data to develop metrics that will deliver strong controls and insights
  • Collaborate with new data and existing partners to identify new data opportunities and enhance existing data exchange processes
  • Closely partner with colleagues across CFR Data Strategy, Product Owners, Compliance, CFR Risk Strategy, CFR Fraud Strategy and Decisions Science
  • Support the team with third party relationships management and adherence to AXP’s Third Party Lifecycle Management program
  • Have consultative skills able to work in a dynamic cross functional global environment

 Selected candidate will be allocated to one of these roles & levels depending on the fitment, business needs and candidate's choice and experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and across a matrixed organization to deliver solutions at top speed
  • Ability to manage and lead large scale projects with multiple cross functional partners
  • Good communication and influencing skills with an ability to translate data and analytics into business insights and recommendations, conceptualize and sell ideas
  • Strong technical skills to perform data evaluation, analytics, and matrices tracking/reporting
  • Knowledge of Python, SQL, Spark, SAS, and familiar with big data and cloud environments
  • Experience in a financial services organization in data or strategy function
  • Knowledge of Credit Risk and or Fraud Risk standards, practices, or external Credit or Fraud Risk data sources preferred
  • Master's Degree or higher required, concentration in a quantitative field preferred
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and work under a fluid environment

Salary Range: $55,000.00 to $105,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
