Job Description

American Express Travel Related Services seeks Data Scientists to design and develop models and algorithms to target profitable audiences for American Express’s social and display advertising. Analyze and gather valuable insights from large amounts of data. Apply data mining and machine learning techniques to develop analytical infrastructure, and computational and statistical capabilities to drive new customer acquisition. Develop bidding algorithms to make computations in real time. Apply economic theories and business logic to estimate value of cookies and impressions, and to deliver contextually relevant content to prospective cardmembers visiting American Express websites. Present results of complex analytics projects to business and non-technical audiences.

Position requires a Master’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Econometrics, Data Science, Operations Research, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, and 2 years of experience applying statistical analysis and data mining techniques to real business problems.

Experience must include a minimum of:

1 year of experience with translating data-based findings into non-technical recommendations on strategic business decisions and presenting recommendations to leadership; 1 year of experience with analyzing and manipulating large datasets; and 1 year of experience with machine learning techniques, Python, Hadoop, Big Data, SQL, ETL processes, mathematical predictive modeling and analysis, regression, decision systems, Clustering, Neural Networks, Support Vector Machines (SVN), K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN), Matrix Factorization, and Singular Value Decomposition (SVD).
