Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist to further the development and application of analytics methods to examine the complex data flows of the Demand Side Platform (DSP), and to translate deep dives into actionable insights for our product and engineering teams. In this role, you will apply statistical and ML methods and develop new tools to analyze our advertising data to help improve the performance of our bidding algorithms, targeting and relevance systems, advertising customer user experience, and evaluate the impact of feature releases.

Key job responsibilities

  • Analyze data that affects campaign delivery and performance and contributes to achieving advertiser goals.
  • Present analytical papers to senior leaders highlighting insights that inform our business development and engineering roadmaps.
  • Drive end-to-end statistical analysis and Machine Learning projects that have a high degree of ambiguity, scale, and complexity.
  • Identify, standardize, and operationalize KPIs to effectively measure the performance of all systems involved in ad serving, and use trend insights to inform business priorities.
  • Partner with engineering teams to define data logging requirements and getting these prioritized in engineering roadmaps.
  • Validate financial models through analysis.

About the team

In ASAT we use practical science, we apply an objective perspective with business acumen to uncover insights, advise strategic decisions, and adjust to industry changes. We change and advance the thinking, strategy, and investments made by the Amazon Ads business through quantitative truth.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of data querying languages (e.g. SQL), scripting languages (e.g. Python) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, Matlab, etc.) experience
  • 5+ years of data scientist experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience working with scientists, economists, software developers, or product managers

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience as a leader and mentor on a data science team
  • Experience in forecasting analyses
  • Master's degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics, data science, business analytics, economics, finance, engineering, or computer science

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $127,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $247,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
