Customer Experience and Business Trends (CXBT) is an organization made up of a diverse suite of functions dedicated to deeply understanding and improving customer experience, globally. We are a team of builders that develop products, services, ideas, and various ways of leveraging data to influence product and service offerings - for almost every business at Amazon - for every customer (e.g., consumers, developers, sellers/brands, employees, investors, streamers, gamers).

We are looking for Data Scientists to join our science team, produce frontier research to influence decision-making and improve customer experience by applying Machine Learning, statistics, econometrics. In this role you have the opportunity to think big in impacting multiple Amazon businesses (e.g., Advertising, Consumer, Seller) and technologies, while starting with focused studies in the consumer research spaces. You will collaborate with the science community (Data Scientists, Economists, Research Scientists, Applied Scientists) across our stakeholder teams. You will be responsible for applying frontier ML and statistical models to deliver frontier research on consumer experience topics including omni-channel, eCommerce, and digital advertising.

The ideal candidate has demonstrated exceptional data science and research skills. You will be working on petabyte-size datasets, cutting edge computing tech (AWS/distributed computing), and influence business decisions and improve customer experiences at global scale. You are excited to take on new, ambiguous programs that will be industry defining.

Key job responsibilities

  • Contribute as Data Scientist in a Science team. Continuously enhance our team’s science and data skills through learning, experiments, and execution and drive innovations.
  • Work with Product Managers, Data Scientists, BI Engineers, and Data Engineers, to apply data science thinking and analysis, and connect with Amazon’s science community.
  • Inject science thinking to data collection and analysis, service development and product vision.
  • Design data and science experiments, collect external data, correlate with a wide range of internal data sources, develop models to analyze data to generate insights, and communicate research plans and research findings to teammates and stakeholders.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3+ years of experience with data scripting languages (e.g SQL, Python, R etc.) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, or Matlab)
  • 2 years working as a Data Scientist

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in Statistics, Applied Math, Economics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field with at least 2 years of working experience as a Data Scientist.
  • Experience applying various statistics, econometrics, and machine learning techniques, and understanding their interpretation and performance.
  • Proficient with data analysis and modeling software such as Spark, R, Scala, etc.
  • Proficient with using scripting language such as Python.
  • Experienced in handling large data sets using SQL and databases in a business environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
