Amazon's Advertising Impact Team is looking for a Data Scientist to help and be part of a team to put cutting edge economic and data science advertising research into production. We are looking for a unique individual who is interested in bigger picture strategic thinking but with the passion for big data, machine learning and experimentation.

This team is responsible for modeling short-term and long-term customer behavior in relation to advertising using state of the art econometrics and machine learning techniques and sizing and running experiments. This role requires presenting results to some of the most senior leaders of the company.

Key job responsibilities

  • Use machine learning and statistical modeling techniques to create scalable solutions for business problems
  • Analyze and extract relevant information from large amounts of Amazon's historical and experimental data to derive actionable insights
  • Improve upon existing methodologies for supporting new data sources, implementing model enhancements, and fine-tuning model parameters.
  • Work closely with software and data engineers on production model implementation

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Applied Math, Economics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field with at least 3 years of working experience as a Data Scientist
  • 1+ years of experience with data scripting languages (e.g.: SQL, Python, R etc.) and statistical/machine learning softwares/libraries
  • Experienced in handling large data sets in a business environment
  • Experience applying various econometric and machine learning techniques, and understanding their interpretation and performance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced degree in Statistics, Applied Math, Economics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field with 2+ years of working experience as a Data Scientist
  • Experience working with econometric models on causal impact questions
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and data presentation skills
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment
