The Amazon Alexa app is a key companion to all Alexa devices for setup, remote control, and enhanced features. Alexa Mobile Intelligence team includes personalization and analytics platform teams, which are both motivated to make mobile app more intelligent, personalized and easy to use for customers based on machine learning and data mining approaches. Our tech stack processes 50+ billion events daily to generate customer profiles which helps us to personalize the experience.

We are looking for passionate, hardworking data scientists who have experience building machine learning models.

Key job responsibilities

• Scientists at Amazon are expected to develop new techniques to process large data sets and contribute to design of automated systems.
• Apply ML, statistics or econometrics techniques to develop and analyze prototype models.
• Design and analyze data from large-scale online experiments in order to validate prototype models.
• Collaborate with scientists across teams in peer-review processes, publishing research in internal forms and industry conferences.
• Partner closely with product and engineering teams to improve the advertising performance and translate prototype models to production.
• Establish scalable, efficient, and automated processes for large scale model development, validation, and implementation.
• Research and experiment with novel statistical modeling approaches.

About the team

Alexa Mobile Intelligence team are a team with mixture of SDEs, scientists and TPM. We are all highly customers obsessed by thinking about bringing best mobile experience to users. Our goals are improving Alexa's user engagement and retention.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's Degree
• 1+ years of experience with data scripting languages (e.g SQL, Python, R etc.) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, or Matlab)

• MS in one of the following disciplines: Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Economics, Applied Math, Operational Research or a related quantitative field.
• Experience with statistical analysis, data modeling, optimizations, regression modeling and forecasting, time series analysis, data mining, financial analysis, and demand modeling
• Experience applying various machine learning techniques, and understanding the key parameters that affect their performance
• Fluent in SQL, Python.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous experience in ML, data scientist or optimization engineer role with a large technology company
• Passion for data (and fearlessness in the face of a data tsunami), modeling, research design and cutting-edges algorithms.
• MS in one of the following disciplines: Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Economics, Applied Math, Operational Research or a related quantitative field.
• Domain knowledge of comparable products (digital, retail).
• Big Data Engineering with Spark / AWS EMR.
