Key job responsibilities

As a Data Scientist on our team, you will work with stakeholders across the organization to improve our marketing strategy based on what is important to our customers. You will have the opportunity to apply a variety of machine learning and predictive algorithms on some of the world's largest data sets, and influence the long-term evolution of our science roadmap. You will need to be entrepreneurial, able to deal with ambiguity and work in a highly collaborative environment. You will identify specific and actionable opportunities to solve complex business problems, and collaborate with multiple teams to drive change. You need to be a sophisticated user of advanced quantitative techniques and data visualization, and an expert at synthesizing and communicating insights and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working as a Data Scientist
  • Experience with data scripting languages (e.g. SQL, Python, R etc.) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, or Matlab)
  • Experienced in handling large data sets using SQL and databases in a business environment.
  • Experience applying various machine learning techniques, and understanding the key parameters that affect their performance
  • Experienced in using multiple data science methodologies to solve complex business problems.
  • Excellent ability to communicate with technical and nontechnical stakeholders alike in written documents and verbal communication to collect data requirements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Economics
  • Experience with experiment design involving algorithm development, machine learning, data mining, and use of other statistical approaches
  • Experience as a data scientist, economist, applied scientist, research scientist or equivalent data analytics role
  • Ability to develop experimental and analytic plans for data modeling processes, use of strong baselines, ability to accurately determine cause and effect relations
  • Experience using Amazon technologies – Redshift, Sagemaker, Athena, S3, EC2, QuickSight, etc.
