As part of this mission, we are looking for a bold, innovative and dynamic Data Science and BI Manager for our Customer Loyalty Strategy team and invent, build and scale a global service focused on identifying opportunities to improve our customers’ experience across different Amazon businesses. You will be responsible for leading teams of Data Scientists, Business Intelligence Engineers (BIE) and other Technologists, setting the strategic vision, and scaling the service through automation and other levers. You will deliver results through your team, innovate, actively challenge the status quo and not be scared to roll-up your sleeves. You will dive deep into ambiguous and complex issues, and partner with peers and senior leaders to solve challenging business problems. You’ll leverage analytics and machine learning to innovate and build new approaches to generate insights and drive actions that directly impact Amazon customers.

In this role, you will lead BIE's responsible for setting up customer studies, ingesting data through data pipelines, automating analysis for various surveys, running statistical tests on the data, and presenting data through visualization tools. You will lead Data Science teams responsible for experimental survey design, performing statistical analysis, and developing NLP-based machine learning algorithms and go deep into data.

Additionally, you will work to productize repeated manual efforts in both disciplines and build products to go deeper into data to derive customer insights at scale.

Key job responsibilities

  • Lead and develop your team: Hire, drive innovation and continuously improve performance
  • Business Intellegence and Data Science vision: Work backwards from your customers to define product offerings and define roadmaps as they pertain to business intelligence and data science.
  • Influences the strategic direction of large products as they pertain to science and intelegence. Influences customers, partners, engineering org priorities.
  • Deliver results and innovate: This includes: building and innovating methodologies, automation, research, analysis, and, recommendations.
  • Work closely with engineering, research, product and business teams to deliver results to customer.

A day in the life

  • Develop analytical solutions to business problems to support decision making
  • Use statistical techniques, data mining and/or machine learning to create new, scalable analysis for business problems
  • Work with teams across Amazon to procure relevant data sets and create buy-in for use of newly created metrics
  • Develop subject matter expertise on analytics and statistical tools and assist and spread knowledge across the organization


  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 7+ years of experience in product or program management, product marketing, business development or technology
  • 3+ years of experience managing teams
  • Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product
  • Experience overseeing roadmap strategy and definition
  • Experience with end to end product delivery
  • Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product


  • Advanced degree
  • Demonstrated history in technical leadership roles with direct management of a team(s), with a track record of developing and promoting direct reports
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and good business acumen
  • Strong communicator, both written and verbal, with experience in facilitation across all levels; skilled at addressing both large and small audiences across multiple leadership levels and functions and influencing decisions across levels
  • Track record of delivering strong results in a high-paced and highly ambiguous work environment
  • Thinks strategically, but stays on top of tactical execution
