Alexa Speech is building the future of voice enabled interactions for our customers not only in Echo family, but also in 3rd party devices and applications. We believe voice is the most natural user interface for interacting with technology across many domains, so we are inventing the future.

Key job responsibilities

  • Enable team data efficacy and efficiency
  • Lead the data aspects of scientific research projects from start to finish, including experiment / study execution, data gathering and manipulation, synthesis and modeling, reporting, and solution implementation
  • Design, plan, build, and maintain experimental systems that take inputs from multiple models and data sources to support scalable, iterative, and continuous experimentation
  • Work with ASR Science and Engineering teams to identify new insights that would help shape business direction
  • Collaborate with customers, stakeholders, engineers, scientists, and program and product owners
  • Seek out and capitalize on opportunities to innovate new data technologies as needs
  • Identify, apply, and advance best practices across the disciplines of statistics machine learning, software development, and data science
  • Own the advancement of the team’s data analytical capabilities
  • Identify and pursue collaboration opportunities with other data teams working on parallel or complimentary projects
  • Manage relationships with other data and analytics teams necessary for our team to grow and function
  • Provide technical leadership in data science and mentoring to team members

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3+ years of experience with data scripting languages (e.g SQL, Python, R etc.) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, or Matlab)
  • 2 years working as a Data Scientist
  • Master's Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or related discipline
  • Experience with causal inferencing, multi-variate testing & design, A/B testing & design, descriptive analytics, and regression analysis.
  • Good understanding of supervised and unsupervised learning model

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in as many of the following areas: causal learning, multi-variate testing, hypothesis testing, and A/B Testing
  • Experience in data applications using large scale distributed systems (e.g. EMR, Spark, Elasticsearch, Hadoop, Pig, and Hive).
  • Broad knowledge of ML methods, statistical analysis, and problem-solving skills.
  • Expert level knowledge in statistics; sophisticated user of statistical tools.
  • Experience processing, filtering, and presenting large quantities (hundreds of millions/billions of rows) of data
  • Combination of deep technical skills and business savvy enough to interface with all levels and disciplines within our customer’s organization.
  • Demonstrable track record of dealing well with ambiguity, prioritizing needs, and delivering results in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to advocate technical solutions for science, engineering, and business audiences.
  • Ability to develop experimental and analytical plans for data modeling, use effective baselines, and accurately determine cause-and-effect relations.
  • Experience in computational advertising is a plus.
