Northrop Grumman Space Systems is searching for an experienced Principal Sr. Principal Software Engineer to join the Software Engineering Team located in Melbourne, FL.

The successful candidate for this position will work on a team developing and implementing algorithms for advanced capabilities. The team will be responsible for developing the algorithmic set, creating a verification and validation approach, and supporting the transfer of those algorithms to other team for integration and testing.

Essential Functions:

• Develop requirements for algorithms
• Invent new algorithms or modify algorithms techniques to meet requirements
• Design algorithms and provide details of mathematics, flow, and I/O
• Implement and test algorithms
• Validate and verify algorithms
• Invent new techniques or modify existing techniques to meet requirements
• The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings across all levels.
•  This role may be filled at a level III or IV

Basic Qualifications: Principal Software Engineer

• 5 Years with bachelor’s in science; 3 Years with Masters.
• An in-scope DoD secret security clearance is required with the ability to maintain it
• Candidates should have experience with large software systems and the full software development lifecycle
• Software development/implementation experience in C, C++
• A basic knowledge of digital signal processing
• Enthusiastic self-starter
• U.S. Citizenship is required
• Experience in software engineering focusing on coding AI algorithms for specific use cases
• Experience in evaluating AI/ML algorithms and determining if relevant to mission use cases, and choosing appropriately

Basic Qualifications: Sr. Principal Software Engineer

• 9 Years with bachelor’s in science; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD.
• An in-scope DoD secret security clearance is required with the ability to maintain it
• Candidates should have experience with large software systems and the full software development lifecycle
• Software development/implementation experience in C, C++
• Enthusiastic self-starter
• U.S. Citizenship is required
• Experience in software engineering focusing on coding AI algorithms for specific use cases
• Experience in evaluating AI/ML algorithms and determining if relevant to mission use cases, and choosing appropriately
• Experience in coding and modifying software for AI related use cases

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficiency with Linux and Linux based software development tools
• Integrate complex systems that facilitate continuous build, continuous integration, continuous test, continuous deployment
• Working knowledge of hardware/software analysis tools (debuggers, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, emulators, etc)
• Experience with space craft or launch systems software development is highly desired.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management
• Previous experience with digital signal or video processing.
• Previous experience with Discrimination Algorithms, Machine Learning, and/or Artificial Intelligence.

Salary Range: $87,600 USD - $131,400 USD

Salary Range 2: $108,600 USD - $163,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
