Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Software Engineer / Principal Software Engineer – Data Displays & Control to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. Position is located in Melbourne, Florida.

Essential Functions:

Exciting position offers the opportunity to directly create, implement and evaluate software for displays in a cockpit environment. Not your average sustainment role! Come in from the beginning where the architecture and framework are being developed from the ground-up! 

The Software Engineer will develop, modify and maintain customized or standardized applications using software engineering best practices and standards, and participate in the full life-cycle of software development, to include requirements development, modeling and design, application development, unit to CSCI testing, integration, formal system testing, release, installation, and maintenance. The candidate will interface on occasion with the customer and excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills are essential.

Basic Qualifications for a Software Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years of related professional/military experience to include a background in software engineering OR a Master’s Degree
  • Experience developing software/writing code in C/C++ and/or Java
  • Must have an active DoD Secret (or higher) clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Software Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years of related professional/military experience to include a background in software engineering OR a Master’s Degree with 3 years of of related professional/military experience to include a background in software engineering
  • Experience developing software/writing code in C/C++ and/or Java
  • Must have an active DoD Secret (or higher) clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering
  • Experience in aeronautical displays development
  • Experience in OpenGL
  • Familiarity with Rhapsody, Eclipse, Atlassian Tools (Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence, Crucible, Bamboo etc..)
  • Familiarity with Agile software development process
  • Experience with Python
  • Eclipse or other integrated development environment (IDE)
  • Knowledge of Linux systems with basic commands

Salary Range: $71,100 USD - $106,700 USD

Salary Range 2: $87,600 USD - $131,400 USD
