Northrop Grumman Space Systems is currently looking for a Metals, Thermal Manager to work in our Promontory or Bacchus, UT location.

Job Duties:

  • Individual will manage team of material specialists with expertise in material science, chemistry, physics, metallurgical, mechanical and/or chemical engineering directed to support metallurgical needs of various programs as well as evaluate thermal and related capabilities of materials.
  • Ownership of multiple buildings with accompanying safety and maintenance responsibilities. 
  • Department activities also include development of related technologies directed towards new product development outside of traditional product lines.
  • Management activities will include coordination and monitoring of employees workload, employee development, employee hiring, coordination with outside organizations, maintaining overhead budgets, and developing and executing department initiatives.
  • Work activities will also include individual technical efforts as required to meet budget and schedule constraints.

Experience Requirements:

  • 3 years or greater experience in applying expertise to support materials application for solid rocket motor and related assets needs
  • 3 years or greater demonstrated cross functional leadership experience (including leading project teams)

Experience Preferred:

  • 5 years or greater experience in applying expertise to support materials application for solid rocket motor and related assets needs
  • 5 years or greater demonstrated cross functional leadership experience (including leading project teams).
  • Experience with the Propulsion Systems design release process.
  • Experience in proposing and winning contracts
  • Experience in managing projects or programs using Propulsion Systems tools

Education/Certifications

  • Education/Experience: Advanced technical degree (Masters or higher) in material science, chemistry, physics, or engineering (10 years experience with M.S. or 5 years experience with PhD)

Salary Range: $147,700 USD - $221,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
