Strategic Space Systems Division has an opening for a Sr. Principal Database Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach CA.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

Designs, develops, builds, analyzes, evaluates and installs database management systems to include database modeling and design, relational database architecture, metadata and repository creation and configuration management. Uses data mapping, data mining and data transformational analysis tools to design and develop databases. Determines data storage and optimum storage requirements. Prepares system requirements, source analysis and process analyses and design throughout the database implementation.

  • Creates connections and engineers data pipelines for Product Lifecycle Management, Enterprise Resource Planning, and Manufacturing Execution systems in support of data analyses, reporting, and visualization.
  • Designs, builds, and maintains databases for custom built web and desktop-based applications.
  • Advises data analysts on appropriate interpretation of data from various sources.
  • Collaborates with other team members to develop holistic solutions in support of actionable decision making.
  • Coaches and mentors other team members on data management and coding principles such as relational database design, version control practices, documentation development, application architecture development, and evaluation of effectiveness.
  • Writes SQL queries for Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and SAP Hana environments and establishes structured views, stored procedures, and variables for ready use by data analysts and engineers.
  • Supports machine learning projects through dataset design and feature development.
  • Creates database automation through SQL Server Integration Services, Alteryx, Power Automate or other methods to regularly extract, manipulate, aggregate, and transport data.
  • Creates and maintains technical documentation on database designs, custom queries, structured views, and stored procedures for use by other team members and as education for the broader Strategic Space Systems Division community in support of Digital Transformation Initiatives.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 9 Years of experience with Bachelors in Science; OR 7 Years of experience with Masters; OR 4 Years of experience with a PhD.
  • 2 Years of experience preparing custom SQL queries in Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, or SAP Hana.
  • Experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning, Product Lifecycle Management, and/or Manufacturing Execution System software.
  • Work experience with a high level programming language (e.g. Python, C#).
  • Ability and willingness to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Specific experience working with SAP Enterprise Resource Planning software.
  • Experience using a data analytics visualization software package (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, Looker, Lumira).
  • Experience using a version control system for code management (e.g. Git, SVN).
  • Experience with a project management ticketing software (e.g. Atlassian Jira, Microsoft Azure DevOps).
  • TS/SCI security clearance.

Salary Range: $125,800 USD - $188,600 USD
