The Advanced Technology Lab of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking Scientists. The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Transformational Computing Business Area. Transformational Computing is focused on developing state-of-the-art next generation superconducting electronics (SCE) and advanced computing technologies. Qualified Scientists will have knowledge and/or experience with all of the following: - microwave engineering with hardware/test - low-temperature experiments – software control of test instruments – three or more years of lab experience.

This position requires on site work at our Linthicum, MD Advanced Technologies Lab.

This requisition may be filled at a Principal Scientist or a Sr. Principal Scientist. Qualifications for both are listed below:

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Transformational Lab Scientist:

• Must have a Ph.D. in Physics, or a closely related technical discipline (or will complete by December 2022)
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance (US citizenship is required for this)
• Experience or knowledge in: - microwave engineering - low-temperature experiments
• Software control of test instruments.
• Experience with microwave test instrumentation
• Ability to mentor junior engineers and physicists in troubleshooting software and hardware issues.
• 3 or more years of lab experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with analog and digital electronics, dilution refrigerator operation
• Experience with object oriented programming languages such as C++
• Experience programming in MATLAB, and/or python

• Must have a Ph.D. in Physics, or a closely related technical discipline and 4 years of relevant experience (or will complete by December 2022)
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance (US citizenship is required for this)
• Experience or knowledge in: - microwave engineering - low-temperature experiments
• Software control of test instruments.
• Experience with microwave test instrumentation
• Ability to mentor junior engineers and physicists in troubleshooting software and hardware issues.
• 3 or more years of lab experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Salary Range: $117,200 USD - $175,800 USD

Salary Range 2: $145,200 USD - $217,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
