Job Description

The Data Quality Specialist is a lead contributor to the overall goal of maintaining high-quality, reliable data that can be trusted for decision-making and analysis. The incumbent will help Set standards for Data Quality and perform quality analysis.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

Data Cleansing and Standardization:

  • Identify and rectify inaccuracies, inconsistencies, and errors in datasets.
  • Standardize data formats, values, and structures to maintain uniformity.

Quality Assurance:

  • Develop and implement data quality standards and guidelines.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to evaluate the quality of data.
  • Collaborate with data producers to establish and enforce data quality best practices.

Data Profiling and Analysis:

  • Analyze and profile data to identify patterns, anomalies, and trends.
  • Use data profiling tools to assess the quality and integrity of datasets.
  • Work with stakeholders to understand data requirements and quality expectations.

Data Validation and Verification:

  • Establish validation processes to ensure the accuracy of incoming data.
  • Verify the integrity of data through cross-referencing and validation checks.
  • Implement validation rules and protocols to identify and address data anomalies.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of data quality processes and procedures.
  • Generate regular reports on data quality metrics and key performance indicators.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to relevant stakeholders, including data producers and consumers.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Statistics, or a related discipline.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in a data-related role, with a focus on data quality management or data governance.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and languages such as SQL, Python, or R.
  • Experience with data quality tools and platforms, such as Informatica Data Quality, Talend, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with data profiling, cleansing, and standardization techniques.
  • Understanding of data quality concepts, data governance, and best practices.
  • Knowledge of database systems and data warehousing principles.
  • Familiarity with data modeling and metadata management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address data quality issues.
  • Ability to perform data profiling and analysis to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
  • Excellent communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to document and communicate data quality standards and procedures.
  • Keen attention to detail to identify and rectify data anomalies and inconsistencies.
  • Relevant certifications in data management or data quality (e.g., Certified Information Management Professional (CIMP), Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), or vendor-specific certifications).
  • Must be eligible for Government of Canada Reliability/Secret clearance.
