Job Description

CGI is looking for a Data Modeler to join the Credit development team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced, Agile team environment The Data Modeler will work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to analyze, discover, define and document data structures organized around objects that relate to the application. The member will develop conceptual, logical and physical data models for OLTP, OLAP databases. This career opportunity is open to all locations across the U.S., but the member must be available to work during mountain work hours.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

  • Understand and translate business needs into data models supporting long-term solutions for relational databases.
  • Work with database team to implement data strategies, build data flows and develop conceptual data models.
  • Build logical and physical data models using standard processes to ensure high data quality and reduced duplication.
  • Optimize/update logical and physical data models to support the new requirements. Maintain conceptual, logical and physical data models along with corresponding metadata.
  • Develop best practices for standard naming conventions and coding practices to ensure consistency of data models.
  • Recommend opportunities for reuse of data models in new environments. Perform reverse engineering of physical data models from databases and SQL scripts.
  • Evaluate data models and physical databases for variances and discrepancies. Validate business data objects for accuracy and completeness.
  • Analyze data-related system integration challenges and propose appropriate solutions.
  • Develop data models according to standard processes.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

2-3 years experience in SQL writing and Data Analysis

  • 2-3 years experience in understanding RI, constraints, data relation and flow
  • 2-3 years of experience in several types of databases – DB2 (LUW/Mainframe), Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, others
  • 2-3 experience in analyzing the database and working with Solution Architect to come up with solution design per business and application needs
  • Expertise in communicating with DBA, understanding all DBA terminologies and working closely with them.
  • Experience in testing, debugging and solution crafting
  • Experience in requirement gathering
  • Experience with production environment handling
  • Experience in solely handling client business calls and collecting requirements and working with client DBAs.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree or a level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in related field.
