Job Description

Your future duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide high level expertise in the application of technology to areas of interest to government health organizations including Medical Informatics; Public Health Informatics; statistics, bio-statistics, mathematics; specific tools and data resources relevant to the federal health mission
  • Apply sound quantitative data and methods to support deployment of resources for health surveillance, disease detection, prevention and intervention campaigns and related health activities.
  • Provide expertise across a wide variety of IT areas as applied to health, including information retrieval technology, decision science, web technology, data mining, expert systems, networking, Big Data science, and education.
  • Provide expertise in the integration of a variety of heterogeneous information systems and databases the sharing and dissemination of health and research information; and the application of advanced scientific visualization technology to medical and health science practice.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

  • Bachelor's degree in Genetics, Biology, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Competency in multiple key areas including machine learning and high-throughput sequencing methodology.
  • Deep understanding of and experience in processing high throughput bioinformatics data: data cleaning, normalization, analysis, interpretation, and visualization
  • Proficiency in at least two of the following programming languages: Python, R, Perl, Java, and C/C++
  • Ability to understand and analyze data from complex experimental designs
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction providing technical and non-technical support to multiple users
  • Capable of working under pressure, while handling multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends required on occasion

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to: skill set level; experience and training; and licensure and certifications. CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $94,500 - $165,300
