As a Senior Data Scientist, you will lead data science efforts by partnering with leaders across the company to translate business objectives, market opportunities, and portfolio of offerings into formal and cohesive global commercial strategies.

  • Extract insights to business challenges by applying a broad array of analytics skills including machine learning, statistics, text-mining/NLP, and modeling using structured and unstructured data sources and complementary real-world & digital information streams.
  • Streamline strategic decision information, uncover new opportunities, and automate commercial execution to ensure last mile value.
  • Collaborate with others at GSK in the discovery, development, and scaling of products based around statistical modeling, machine learning, or artificial intelligence capabilities.
  • Develop & deliver code and models from concept to production.
  • Contribute to the extensive and varied build and deployment activities involved in establishing new modeling and machine learning capabilities.

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years as a data scientist
  • Experience in building and implementing machine learning models

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in STEM subject (e.g., Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Statistics, Bioinformatics, Engineering, Mathematics, Chemistry)
  • Experience in the marketing and/or pharmaceutical industry and in particular, working knowledge of US-based pharmaceutical dataset and terminologies (e.g., APLD, Xponent, NDC)
  • Ability to coordinate and manage competing priorities across a portfolio of projects.
  • Compile, integrate, and analyze data from multiple sources to answer business questions.
  • Accountability for driving projects and improvement activities through value delivery across different business areas.
  • Experience communicating advanced data science concepts to business stakeholders and leaders in a clear and simple way, with the ability to respond effectively to challenge.
  • Deep knowledge of a sufficiently broad area of technical specialism (e.g., machine learning, time series, optimization, applied mathematics, simulation, NLP, process mining, process optimization, optimal control), and are a valued and trusted expert.
  • Experience in Python-based design/coding. and local data science frameworks and toolkits.
  • Practical experience building and implementing large-scale machine learning systems, using SQL, Hadoop, NoSQL or Spark to mine large datasets.
  • Experience with the Microsoft Azure technical stack, Databricks, and GitHub.
  • Experience in Agile methodologies and the hypothesis-driven approach.
