As a member of the DCAR software team you will help take these products to the next level, improve quality, and increase access. The ECG Algorithm Engineer will lead the support and development of signal processing software and machine learning for ECG algorithms deployed in electrocardiographs, ECG recorders, MUSE, defibrillators and patient monitors.

Job Description

The Algorithm Development position in the Diagnostic Cardiology business requires the individual to perform the following tasks:

  • Interact with global customers, clinicians and GE personnel to define and document algorithm development needs
  • Design, implement, test and document algorithms for Diagnostic Cardiology products based on customer and clinical needs
  • Clinically validate algorithms meet intended use and performance requirements using disciplined scientific and statistical methods with clinically relevant data
  • Contribute to the risk analysis of algorithm implementations in terms of the impact on patient safety
  • Lead intellectual property reviews for algorithm development
  • Attend scientific meetings, and customer/luminary meetings as necessary to obtain input for new algorithm development
  • Publish papers and make scientific presentations to promote Diagnostic Cardiology algorithm technology
  • Provide support related to ECG analysis to clinical application specialists
  • Software development using C/C++
  • Contribute to and own deliverables of the Software Development Life Cycle including Software Requirements, Software Design, Implementation, Unit Testing, and Verification for algorithms
  • Interaction with global team members to share knowledge and expertise with global counterparts
  • Understand and follow GE Health Care Quality Management System and Design Controls throughout the product development cycle
  • Bachelors of Science in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related field with emphasis on signal processing
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and 3+ years of structured programming experience
  • Demonstrated application of signal processing theory and techniques to biological signals
  • Demonstrated ability to apply scientific and statistical methods on datasets for algorithm development
  • Demonstrated ability to understand complex signal processing systems
  • Demonstrated ability to write technical requirements
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States full-time
  • Must be willing to work in our Wauwatosa facility full-time
  • Master of Science or PhD in Computer Science,Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related field with emphasis on signal processing or informatics
  • Demonstrated knowledge of cardiology workflow and diagnostic ECG modalities
  • Knowledge of electrocardiography and cardiac physiology
  • Knowledge of biostatistics
  • Knowledge of computational modeling (machine learning)
  • Knowledge of numerical analysis
  • Experience in other programming languages such as Python, Matlab, Java, C#
  • Experience programming for real-time systems
  • Experience programming for embedded Linux systems
  • Experience with automated unit testing and automated system level testing
  • Experience in software development in the medical field
  • Configuration management tool experience such as ClearCase, TFS, Perforce, Git, or equivalent
  • Global team experience
  • Demonstrated experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS), regulatory compliance processes, and/or 510(k) submissions
