The selected candidate for the Data Scientist - Level 2 position will perform Modeling, Simulation & Analysis (MS&A) supporting the U-2 ADP Skunkworks Sustainment program.

Primary responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to:

  • Utilize modeling & simulation technical principles, theories, concepts, and techniques to conduct supportability and Performance Based Logistics (PBL) metrics assessments using commercial, government, and LM developed tools.
  • Work under the guidance of a technical lead to implement improved Sustainment modeling & analysis capabilities in several areas.
  • Analyze ADP Skunkworks fielded performance developing solutions to assigned problems for the purpose of forecasting, root cause analysis, evaluation of potential solutions, and assessment of corrective actions.
  • Construction and execution of data models and discrete event simulators.
  • Quantitative and qualitative data collection, data cleaning and management.
  • Converting data artifacts into visualizations utilizing Tableau.
  • Working in big data environments (downloading, uploading, aggregating, etc).

This position is in Palmdale, CA Discover Palmdale.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be able to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance to perform job duties
  • Engineering degree (i.e. Industrial, Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, etc.), or related technical discipline such as Physics, Data Science, Data Analysis, Physics, or Mathematics (use of stochastic and deterministic data models), or related technical disciplines with an emphasis in modeling, data manipulation, and/or the application of mathematical and statistical methods to business and/or risk management problems. Considered experienced, but still a learner
  • Ability to query databases using Structured Query Language (SQL), and/or programming experience with Python or other high-level language
  • Experience with distributed databases, query languages, programming, and/or data visualization tools

Desired Skills:

  • Perform analysis via multi-criteria decision modeling including statistical & risk analysis, life-cycle cost analysis, performance & cost trade-offs, and business case analysis
  • Possess a foundational understanding of a broad set of tools to be able to apply the right tool to each data exploration activity
  • Experience with multiple of the following: Descriptive and Predictive modeling, Machine Learning, Advanced statistics and statistical modeling, Time series analysis and forecasting, and/or experience with Languages: R, SAS, Python, MATLAB, SQL, Alteryx, Tableau
  • Aircraft maintenance (commercial or military) experience

Ability to Work Remotely:Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules:Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position:4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week

Pay Rate:

The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, or Washington is $76,600 - $146,800. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full time employees: accrue 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO); receive 40 hours of Granted PTO annually for incidental absences; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of PTO per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO is prorated based on hours worked and start date during the calendar year.

This position is incentive plan eligible.

Pay Rate:

The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California and New York is $88,100 - $166,000. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
