The Lockheed Martin Artificial Intelligence Center (LAIC) team at Enterprise Operations is looking for software engineers who possess passion for conceptualizing, building, testing and maturing autonomous systems. This position provides the opportunity to apply technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques in the software field to develop tangible, differentiated and meaningful solutions aimed at significantly enhancing the sustainment of complex systems and enabling future hyper-battlespace capabilities.

The selected candidate will be part of a range of projects including short-term sprints (rapid prototyping) and long-term engagements (integration, maturation of prototypes). The team is focused on supporting major projects through the use of a small, innovative core team, leveraging AI to create and sustain state-of-the-art technologies across several Lines of Business.

The selected candidate will focus on development, integration and test, spanning the complete system development lifecycle. This includes requirements generation, system and software design, implementation, integration, and flight test. The candidate can be expected to be exposed to Artificial Intelligence, with opportunities for study, personal development and experimentation in this area. The candidate must exhibit self-motivation, a strong work ethic, time management and interpersonal skills.

Must be a US Citizen.

Remote work is an option, but the candidate may also choose to be based at the LAIC headquarters in Shelton, CT, or at any major Lockheed Martin facility.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience, with 5 years of professional experience; or 3 years of professional experience with a related Master’s degree.
  • Experience using machine learning frameworks (Pytorch, Tensorflow, MxNet, Caffe, etc.)
  • Experience with Python and multiple libraries (NumPy, OpenCV, Scikit, Pandas, etc.)
  • Experience with C++, Java, GO, and other compiled languages
  • Experience with DevOps tools: Docker, Git [GitLab, GitHub], Continuous Integration [CI], Continuous Deployment [CD]
  • Experience with modern Computer Vision
  • Experience developing applications on Linux
  • Must be a US Citizen

Desired Skills:

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or other related discipline
  • Experience with high-performance computing
  • Experience with network/messaging (UDP, ZeroMQ, RESTful API, etc.)
  • Experience interfacing with databases (SQL, MongoDB, etc.)
  • Experience leading other engineers or small teams
  • Familiarity with transitioning prototype software to production

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
