Job Description

The F-35 is designed with the entire battlespace in mind, bringing new flexibility and capability to the United States and its allies. Reliance on any single capability — electronic attack, stealth, etc. — is not sufficient for success and survivability in the future. Missions traditionally performed by specialized aircraft — air-to-air combat, air-to-ground strikes, electronic attack, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance — can now be executed by a squadron of F-35s.

The F-35 is the first tactical aircraft system to have sustainment tools designed in concert with the air vehicle to optimize operations. This focus on sustainment, together with economies of scale realized from a global supply chain for more than 3,000 aircraft, will help control the costs associated with maintaining a fleet of 5th Generation fighters.

The selected candidate for this position will be expected to be able to perform exploratory research and analysis to identify novel and meaningful patterns in data and uses statistical methods to reject or accept proposed hypotheses about relationships or latent predictive factors discovered through their work to provide business value. Use a combination of tools, technologies, and numerical computing systems (i.e.: GPU processing, distributed computing, highly parallel coding, cloud computing, machine learning, visualization, system modelling and simulation) to achieve results. Areas of expertise should include several of the following: applied statistics, text mining, natural language processing, deep learning, optimization, and other similar fields. Work on datasets with applied statistics and machine learning algorithms; Use exploratory data analysis techniques to identify meaningful relationships, patterns, or trends from complex data sets and discover opportunities in datasets to support decision-making; Develop predictive models and new algorithms to solve data / business problems; Understand the math and statistics behind the models and interpret, extrapolate, and prescribe from data to deliver actionable recommendations using effective visualizations

This position is in Fort Worth, TX Discover Fort Worth.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 5 years of professional experience; or 3 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree. Considered career, or journey, level.

Experience with integrating, implementing, and/or utilizing modeling & simulation tools and techniques (i.e. SAS, Tableau, Python)

Experience with critical interactions and relationships between cross-functional teams (i.e. engineering, sustainment, contracts, business management, finance, and/or aerospace program office)

Desired Skills:

• Strong presentation and communications skills

• Ability to perform analysis via multi-criteria decision modeling including discrete event simulations, statistical & risk analysis, life-cycle cost analysis, performance & cost trade-offs, and business case analysis.

• Understanding of a broad set of tools to be able to apply the right tool to each data exploration activity. Tools could include, for example:

- Descriptive and Predictive modeling

- Machine Learning (supervised and unsupervised)

- Advanced statistics and statistical modeling

- Time series analysis and forecasting

- Optimization and simulation

- Communication, story-telling and visualization

- Distributed computing (Hadoop)

- Importing, cleaning, and transforming datasets

- Data warehousing

- Critical thinking & problem-solving skills

- Data preparation and transformation

- Languages: R, SAS, Python, Pig, Hive, Spark, MATLAB, SQL

• SAS Enterprise Guide experience

Ability to Work Remotely:Full-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work remotely full time at a location other than a Lockheed Martin designated office/job site. Employees may travel to a Lockheed Martin office for periodic meetings.

Work Schedules:Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position:4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week

Pay Rate:

The annual base salary range for this position in Colorado or Washington is $93,400 - $179,000. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
