Job Description

Sustainment Engineering (SE) is seeking a motivated Data Scientist to support the F-35 Sustainment Reliability Analytics Team in support of developing tools and analysis of F-35 performance degrading drivers.

This individual will perform as an integral team and be a technical interface for F-35 Air System performance data relative to Performance Based Logistics (PBL) and supporting metrics. This position will interface directly with both internal and external customers at all levels. The selected candidate will function as a data scientist supporting a team of analysts, through the development of machine learning algorithms and automated tooling. Candidate will also aid in the development and maintenance of a web-based user interface with predictive analytics capabilities.

Successful candidate will research, develop, validate, and document complex data relationships in a data warehouse environment. Candidate will utilize all parts of the data analysis pipeline, such as data collection, cleaning, analysis, visualization, and presentation to deliver critical insights to internal and external customers.

Additional responsibilities include performing research and analysis to identify meaningful metrics, patterns, and trends from datasets, and use statistical methods to validate or reject hypotheses about the data. Techniques may include visualization, simulation, and message-based analysis to achieve the desired analysis results.

Candidate will address sustainment improvement initiatives at a systems level, analyzing impacts to air system performance, conducting lower-level root cause analysis where appropriate to determine actionable solution sets. Candidate will maintain open lines of communication to provide proactive interface with stakeholders on performance metric reporting. Candidate will be a self-starter, manage time appropriately and can establish and maintain a library of technical performance reporting.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 5 years of professional experience; or 3 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree. Considered career, or journey, level.
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of data mining, statistical modeling, and machine learning methodologies.
• Proficiency with databases and SQL.
• Strong programming skills with a solid foundation in data structures and algorithms.
• Proficiency in data analysis, and data modeling in Python.
• Experience with Tableau, Business Objects or Visual Basic.

Desired Skills:

• Experience creating and using advanced machine learning algorithms and techniques (simulation, scenario analysis, clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.).
• Experience with SAP HANA, Oracle.
• Expertise in software development tools such as Docker, GitLab, Kubernetes, NPM, yarn and CI pipeline environments.
• Experience working with and creating data architectures.
• Working knowledge in modern web technologies such as Angular, Nest.JS, CSS, HTML.
• Knowledge of Agile programming methodologies.
