PepsiCo is on the look-out for a Demand Planning Data Scientist to be part of our Supply Chain team on a permanent basis.

We are the concentrate team in PepsiCo (PGCS) working across the Beverage, Nutrition and Snacks categories to deliver concentrate for many of PepsiCo’s mega brands including Gatorade, 7Up and Pepsi. We are at the heart of PepsiCo products, sourcing ingredients to manufacture more than 1,200 recipes for our brands. The supply chain team are the lynch pin of operations ensuring the careful coordination of concentrate ingredients and recipes. The team works with our global plants, bottlers and Distribution Centres to ensure flawless supply execution for PepsiCo. The Demand Planning Data Scientist will be responsible for analysing and interpreting data to develop accurate demand forecasts for PGCS. The role requires advanced analytical skills and the ability to work with large datasets to identify trends and insights. The data scientist will collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Finance, Supply Chain, Procurement, Operations and our sector partners to ensure timely and accurate forecast inputs. The data scientist will develop statistical models and forecast tools to improve forecast accuracy and support decision-making.

Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyse data, including historical sales trends, market trends, and upcoming promotions or events, to develop accurate demand forecasts
  • Develop and maintain statistical models and forecast tools using advanced machine learning algorithms to improve forecast accuracy
  • Analyse forecast results to identify trends and areas of improvement, and adjust the forecasting approach accordingly
  • Use predictive analytics to identify potential supply chain disruptions and recommend solutions to mitigate risk
  • Work with Operations and Supply Chain teams to ensure that production plans are aligned with demand forecasts
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure that stock levels are optimized, and minimize stock-outs or overstocks
  • Prepare and present regular forecast accuracy reports together with insights and recommended actions to senior management
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and customers to ensure that demand forecasts are aligned with customer expectations
  • Continuously improve demand planning processes and procedures to enhance forecast accuracy and efficiency

Qualifications

Essential Criteria:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in data science, demand planning, or supply chain management, preferably in a B2B environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Python, R, SQL, or similar
  • Experience with advanced machine learning algorithms, forecasting models, and predictive analytics - experience with o9 Statistical forecasting software a definite advantage.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills

Additional Desired Criteria:

  • Strong PC/software skills with the ability to design and maintain systems.
  • Excellent presentation skills and techniques (Sharepoint, Powerpoint)
  • Experience with Tableau & Power BI a definite plus
  • Familiarity with LSS methodology and a proficiency with Mini-Tab a definite plus.
