The Data Science Pillar in D+A will be the organization where Data Scientist and ML Engineers report to in the broader D+A Organization. Also DS will lead, facilitate and collaborate on the larger DS community in PepsiCo. DS will provide the talent for the development and support of DS component and its life cycle within D+A Products. And will support “pre-engagement” activities as requested and validated by the prioritization framework of D+A.

Position Overview:

Your role will be based in New York, to support shaping and implementing the strategic AI roadmap within the global digital transformation journey within PepsiCo. A wide range of functions including revenue management, supply chain, manufacturing, logistics will be impacted by the adoption of AI technologies, thus augmenting and assisting our people.

You will be part of a collaborative interdisciplinary team around data and analytics, where you will shape and design the adoption of new products in the domain of AI to support the development of digital solutions to create business decision making. On the one hand, you will provide visibility and understanding of the criticality of AI developments to business stakeholders and S&T functional leaders. On the other hand, you will work closely with process owners, product owners and final business users.

You will be an internal ambassador of the team’s culture around data and analytics. You will provide stewardship to colleagues in the areas of AI that you master and further lead the onboarding of new developments in AI within the PepsiCo domain.

Responsibilities

• Lead other team members in the different digital projects acting as a distinguished AI tech thought leader.
• Act as a subject matter expert in AI technologies across different digital projects (specially in Generative AI).
• Shape the strategy and roadmap for AI-based solutions (mid- and long-term), defining goals and milestones, and key activities.
• Engage with our business stakeholders, understand their needs, and solve those autonomous and augmented AI technologies integrated in their workflows.
• Ensure that all of our AI products and platforms adhere to AI safety and ethical standards and focus on protecting our business, our customers and their data.
• Work with executive leaders and S&T teams to foster AI products, components within digital solutions.
• Craft and communicate AI strategy across organization – gain consensus, encourage collaboration and influence senior executives to acquire necessary resources - regularly engaging with partner teams to evangelize our AI features.
• Explore of novel workflows and user interaction paradigms enabled by large AI models.
• Lead a team of professionals with deep experience in AI technologies, coaching them to achieve excellence in delivered solutions and data-driven decision making.
• Support large-scale experimentation and build AI-based solutions.
• Set KPIs and metrics to evaluate AI solutions given particular use cases.
• Research in state-of-the-art methodologies and create documentation for learnings and knowledge transfer.

Compensation and Benefits:

• The expected compensation range for this position is between $106,300 - $177,850.
• Location confirmed job-related skills and experience will be considered in setting actual starting salary.
• Bonus based on performance and eligibility target payout is 15% of annual salary paid out annually.
• Long term incentive equity may be awarded based on eligibility and performance.
• Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement.

Qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering Operations Research or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 10+ years’ experience building solutions involving at least three of the following AI technologies in business context: Computer Vision/Perception, Large Language Models, Audio Processing, Mixed/Augmented Reality, Data Analytics, Affective Computing, Optimization, Semantic Technologies, Cybersecurity
• 10+ years working in a team to deliver production level AI-based solutions, in both AI augmentation and AI autonomous solutions.
• 10+ years Proficiency in Python, C++ or other programming languages
• 10+ years working in high-performance computing and cloud environment
• High proficiency in business storytelling and communicating AI insights in business consumable format.
• Working knowledge in AI safety methodologies related to the broadened of AI tools to mitigate risks of misuse, overuse, and explicit abuse.
• Experience with Responsible AI and FAIR data is a plus.
• Proven track record of publications in high impact peer-reviewed journals of relevant AI tools and methods.
• Track record of Developing AI products that have generated business value, and impact across multiple Industries.
• Strong problem-solving mindset - thinking strategically and creatively to identify and address challenges and opportunities
• Strong written, oral communication, and interpersonal and leadership skills, ideally experience driving consensus
• Strong project management, organizational, and prioritization skills with the ability to deal with ambiguity while juggling multiple priorities
• Deep passion for AI technologies and their real-life applications
• Ability to think strategically within business context and work at a fast pace
