Job Description

This is a hybrid position, 2-3 days on location at Wake Forest Institute of Regenerative Medicine.

This position will require an onsite presence in our Oracle office space at the Wake Forest Institute of Regenerative Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC. The candidate for this role will provide leadership, subject matter expertise, and ownership of internal and external stakeholder engagements to support collaborative interactions with healthcare, research, and machine learning research groups. A critical aspect of the role involves supporting discussions with internal and external stakeholders that focus on improving research approaches that include data-driven analytics and machine learning. This will include collaboration to design experimental protocols that support machine-learning approaches to basic and applied research in Regenerative Medicine. The candidate will become part of a team that works collaboratively with other subject matter experts, product managers, and product development teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Responsibilities

Pre-requisites

• Ph.D. degree in Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology, or related technical field or equivalent practical experience with an emphasis on Data Science and Machine Learning.
• 7+ years of experience designing experiments, developing process flows, and obtaining results in complex environments and high-dimensionality problem space.
• Proficiency in traditional hypothesis-driven experimental design as well as contemporary data-driven design and a penchant for bridging communication between scientists, data scientists, and programmers.
• Deep understanding and hands-on experience with experimental process and pipeline, including theory, experimental design, execution, statistical analysis, validation, and presentation of results.
• Ability to apply research and data science background and experience to new problems and advise collaborators on best practices and optimal approaches to solving problems.
• Familiarity with data management best practices and processes in support of machine learning readiness is highly desired.
• Proficient with computational resources and compute environments, ideally HPC environments.
• Experience using deep learning toolkits in Python like Tensorflow, Torch, or Keras.
• Understanding of the version control mindset and familiarity with version control systems and environments is desirable.
• Experience with biomaterial design and tissue engineering is desirable.
• Travel: <10%.

Hiring Range: from $97,400 to $199,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
