Job Description

Partners with customers, sales, engineering and product teams to design, demonstrate and deploy Oracle Cloud architectures that address customer business problems. Drives Oracle Cloud customer consumption by accelerating the adoption of Oracle cloud services including discovery, design and deployment.

Responsible for participating in customer engagements to collaboratively design and implement solutions. May work directly with customers to gather requirements, develop architectures and translates business needs into solutions. Implements solutions and ensures successful deployments through code development and scripting. Displays product/application understanding through more customized presentation demonstrations to customers and at conferences and events. Supports customer from Proof of Concept (POC) through production deployment of services via resource configuration, planning, and customer education/training. Creates and distributes technical assets (white papers, solution code, blog posts, and video demonstrations). Serves as a technical point of contact for customers and sales on technical cloud solutions and customer success. Further builds business and technical acumen.

Minimum qualifications include: 5 years experience with computer applications and tools required. Ability to travel 25% international and domestic.

Preferred but not required qualifications include: Bachelor of Science-level university degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering from accredited university; and/or relevant 5 years technical experience. Expertise in system and application design; Written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills; Needs analysis, positioning, and business justification; Solving technical problems with customers in technical environments.

The Data & AI Cloud Engineering team is a group of highly skilled Cloud Architects and Data Scientists that help Oracle cloud customers develop and deploy modern data architectures that achieve business goals in data science and big data. This team’s purpose is to accelerate customer's journeys to the cloud by moving and improving their existing Hadoop installations, modernizing their data lakes using industry best practices, and helping these customers achieve their goals in data science and advanced analytics. This team consists of experts that who can identify, evangelize, architect, pilot, and implement solutions that enable these Oracles customers to rapidly use their data to solve business problems.

Job Description

We are seeking for data scientists with a strong track record of developing models and building analytical and machine learning solutions to join our Cloud Engineering team will to have a strong record of developing analytic solutions, of operationalizing machine learning models that have business impact, and will provide expertise in Advanced Analytics and Data Science across all industry sectors.

This role requires the data scientist/architect to be deeply technical and hands-on, and to work closely with our sales teams, customers, product teams and other data scientists to design, develop and deploy Data Science and AI Cloud Solutions for Oracle customers that want to tackle/solve high- impact business problems. The successful candidate must have a good understanding of the value of data lifecycle (ingest, transform, curate, analyze, and predict), as well as, and proven experience delivering data science/ML solutions.

The new Oracle Data Scientist should be able to navigate the linux command line, should have solid SQL, python, and/or R skillss must have a solid understanding of tools and languages such as Python, R, and can quickly deliver data science and analytics on along with the overall data platform at an enterprise level with big data in an enterprise data lake. , data lakes, analytics, and data science and the value of those solutions to the business. The Data Scientist will engage with Oracle customers to discover their business problems and goals, and develop solutions using Oracle Cloud Data Science and AI Services. To work collaboratively with the customer to document the current state architecture, design the future state, and develop a path for cloud digital transformation through data science and analytics.

An ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of at least a few industry domains and expertise deploying advanced analytics solutions to improve business outcomes using data science and AI solutions

In addition, we are looking for team members who can develop and deliver high-quality presentations, demonstrations, and solutions to multiple lines of business and management levels, which clearly articulate the value of Data Science and Oracle data cloud services and solutions.

Experience in analytics/data science tools and a good understanding of the leading products in the industry are required along with passion, curiosity, technical depth, and exceptional communication/presentation skills.

Responsibilities

A Principal Cloud Architect in the Data Science & AI solutions team will own customer engagements from initial discovery phase all the way to application go live on Oracle Cloud. Their responsibilities involve understanding the customers’ challenges and success factors, framing a scalable architecture anchored around Oracle Cloud Data Science and AI services, having detailed TCO and value driven conversations. The architect will provide technical proof points or drive proof of value engagements to the customer with Oracle Cloud Solutions. 
Maintain mastery of the Oracle portfolio and intimate knowledge of industry trends, multidiscipline design patterns, development/deployment methodologies, and competitive cloud offerings while evangelizing solutions.
Be a trusted advisor to the customers. Develop and present business cases, industry trends, competitive differentiators, in alignment with the go-to-market product and solution strategy.
Hands-on development of solutions, demos, POCs, using Oracle Cloud services to meet the customer’s success measures.
Achieve desired results through planning, risk management, stakeholder management, conflict resolution, governance, team management, and ownership of the cloud adoption lifecycle.
Be agile and maintain a sense of urgency and a realistic view of time (urgent patience) throughout an extended customer engagement. 
Inspire confidence and quickly establish connection, credibility, trust, and influence with customer executives to developer.
Exercise creativity, independent judgment, and business acumen in selecting methods and techniques to design non-routine and elegant business solutions utilizing Oracle products and technology to meet customer needs.
Influence customer strategy, architecture, roadmap, and migration planning workshops spanning business, applications, information, and technology domains.
Maintain relevant expert-level competency across the data ecosystem – Big Data, Data Lakes, Advanced Analytics, and Data Science.

Desired Qualifications / Skills:

• 7+ years of experience in Consulting or Sales/Solution Engineering or Product Management.
• 5+ years of proven domain knowledge of Data Science and big data ecosystems. Domain knowledge includes Python, R, Scala, Spark, Kafka, Hadoop, AI/ML, NoSQL, Cloud data architecture, etc.
• Excellent understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms. Some understanding of neural networks, TensorFflow or comparable, is also desired.
  Good applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc.
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Oracle Analytics Cloud, Qlik, Tableau, D3.js, GGplot2, etc.
• Proven expertise in creating detailed technical architectures and product solutions for specified needs. Solution sizing/costing and configuration.
• Ability to provide thought leadership on data science and AI technologies and solutions with proven ability to identify and develop solutions that can accelerate time to value for customers using Oracle Cloud Services.
• Ability to interact with all customer roles such as IT Architects, technical staff and business uses.
• Demonstrated ability to own the customer relationship and drive their success in focus areas such as Data Science, Data Lakes & Data Warehouses enablement. 
  A bachelors or masters in mathematics or computer science or related field is required. Ph.D. in a related field is desired.
